Maurice Evans

Maurice Evans turned heads with this series of mixed media work at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta, Ga. last summer. This daring departure from his trademark urban-style paintings is nothing new for this multi-media artist who often creates intriguingly conceptual art and has always made strong artistic statements in his work.  In this series Evans explores new themes, materials and blending of techniques to take us on an allegorical journey in which traveling is not only a physical movement but also a universal mental experience.

Each of these works is done on wood panel constructions which, while three-dimensional, is designed to hang on a wall. They were photographed against a black background which is not a part of the work.
