Stephen J. Tyson is a painter, curator, and adjunct professor of art at Schenectady
County Community College (Schenectady, NY). He is also on the faculty of the Art Department at SUNY Albany where he teaches African and African-American Art. He
has also taught college courses in Modern Art, Art Appreciation and Twentieth Century African American Art, among others. He was the recipient of a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to Namibia and Botswana in 1995, and one to Nigeria in 1998. He holds a
Master of Fine Arts degree from The City College, NY, NY and he also studied with Isaac Soyer and Gustav Rehberger at the Art Students League of New York, NY.
He currently lives and works in Upstate, New York
