William Buchanan was born in Helena, AK in 1948. He received his Bachelor in Fine Arts from LeMoyne Owen College in Memphis, TN and
later undertook additional studies in painting, drawing and design at Jackson State University, Jackson, MS, and at the Peninsula School of Arts in Door County, Wisconsin.
Buchanan’s work has been shown in a number of solo and group exhibitions nationally. Among his more significant exhibitions are Atlanta Life Insurance Co., Atlanta, GA; City Gallery East, Atlanta, GA; Museum of
Contemporary Art of Georgia, Atlanta, GA; M. Hanks Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; University of Texas at Tyler, Tyler, TX; Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL; The Indianapolis
Art Center, Indianapolis, IN; Ward Nasse Art Gallery, New York, NY; and Leedel Moorhead-Graham Fine Art Gallery, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, AR. He is also the recipient of two Hambidge Center Fellowships. Buchanan
lives and works in Atlanta, GA.
